Vision & Mission

Social environment is the interaction between society and the natural environment and is pertinent to sustainability. Environmental issues are more than engineering and natural science problems but far reaching social-cultural, political, and economical problems. Addressing these requires a complete understanding of social environment. As values shape attitude towards physical environment, society often determines its continuance through policies, behavior, and other life processes. For that reason, encouraging the proper values help decide how societyprotects the environment.

The Cluster of Interaction, Community Engagement and Social Environment or Social Environment Cluster seeks to highlight the social paradigm which is sometimes lacking within the environmental field. Recognizing this will further assist in tackling environmental concerns through research and publications

The Cluster aims to:

  • Accommodate the need for the development of research in environmental science from social perspective .
  • Build and facilitate national and international research collaboration in the environmental field .
  • Provide insights in curriculum development in tandem with the development of social paradigm in environmental science .
