Visiting research program seeks to catalyze broader collaborative research among different faculties in Universitas Indonesia and with other universities or research institutions. The program works to organize and enhance research capacity of School of Environmental Science Universitas Indonesia and partners. With social paradigm at the centre, this program equips research in environmental science with foci in various social, cultural, political, economical, and ethical interests. Further, this program hopes to bring insights to the development of multidimensional research

Human Development
Our cluster consists of permanent lecturers and students at and alumni of School of Environmental Science UI. Since we are organizing the Visiting Researcher 2021 program in research collaboration, the visiting researchers are part of our cluster along with the research assistants. We strive to expand and improve the research capacity of our members specifically in social viewpoints in this interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary field of environmental science.

The Cluster of Interaction, Community Engagement and Social Environment or Social Environment Cluster of School of Environmental Science Universitas Indonesia aims to:
- accommodate the need for the development of research in environmental science from social perspective .
- build and facilitate national and international research collaboration in the environmental field .
- provide insights in curriculum development in tandem with the development of social paradigm in environmental science .

Before I study postgraduate at School of Environmental Science, I was unfamiliar with social research even though I had interest in social and environmental issues in our society. I graduated from Marine Sciences in Institut Pertanian Bogor. Only now I can learn more about social research. My lectures and friends in the Social Environment Cluster are very helpful in helping me to understand various social theories and research method and at the same time, giving me inputs to face the obstacles in conducting research. This cluster can be used as a ‘window’ to promote research conducted by its members and establish cooperation among members and external stakeholders to accelerate and enrich the research outputs. Apart from being more productive, this cluster has a pleasant atmosphere to produce valuable research outputs. This cluster benefits numerous parties, both internal and external parties, including the opportunities and funding in research collaboration at national and international level. Community participation is always meaningful to solve environmental problems. How do we get community participation in running the program, or the community itself takes care of the problems so that environmental problems do not arise? Many factors determined community participation, such as the presence or absence of community norms/habits, economic capacity, the presence of community initiatives, or community education, or formal and informal regulations, etc. Based on the condition of the community that has the factors mentioned above, how do we design the program and work with the community so that the community can resolve the problem? In finding solutions with the district, we will learn many things, including creating new solutions/ideas, writing scientific papers, and being more sympathetic to the community and understanding the community more.
